Sam Dore, Vianney
Sam Dore, junior, Vianney
A three-year varsity starter, the 6-foot-2 outside hitter will be asked to be one of the leaders on a team that graduated 11 seniors after advancing to the Class 1 semifinals. Dore averaged 2.32 kills, had 17 aces, 135 digs and was strong in serve receive as a sophomore. Dore added muscle during the offseason, which has increased the velocity of his attacks and serve.

Cole Hoehn, Parkway Central
Cole Hoehn, senior, Parkway Central
Hoehn, a Missouri S&T signee, was one of the driving forces behind a Colts team that went 22-9-1 last season, the best record for the program since 2018. The 6-foot-2 outside hitter blasted 3.33 kills, had 15 aces, 210 digs and was a force in serve receive. Expect better passing and ball control to go along with good body control and a high volleyball IQ.

Luke Martinez, Kirkwood
Luke Martinez, senior, Kirkwood
When he’s not working on his game, the 6-foot-5 outside hitter can be found watching local college matches. Martinez, a St. Francis University (Pa.) signee, averaged 4.31 kills, had 21 aces, 140 digs and was a leader in serve receive last season. A middle hitter on his club, Martinez will get a chance to shine on the back row as the Pioneers’ primary passer.

Logan Jasutis, Edwardsville
Logan Jasutis, senior, Edwardsville
Jasutis, a 6-foot-2 outside hitter, led the Tigers to a 21-15 record in the rugged Southwestern Conference as a junior. He averaged 2.05 kills, put down 27 aces, had 177 digs and was one of the Tigers’ leaders in serve receive. Second on the team in kills last year, look for Jasutis to become Edwardsville’s main offensive option this season.

Caden Smith, Fort Zumwalt South
Caden Smith, senior, Fort Zumwalt South
Smith put in extra time in the weight room this offseason and will be a leader on a team that boasts a whopping 14 seniors. A 6-foot-3 outside hitter, Smith averaged 2.93 kills as the Bulldogs finished with a 20-8-2 record, their best mark since 2013. Look for improvement on the back row and better passing from the Georgetown College (Ky.) commit.

“In a game that’s won by such small and tight margins, you have to steal every single point that you can,” Howell Central libero Braden Harton said.
