The upcoming Australian remake of Ghosts has unveiled its cast.
The eight-part series, first announced last year, will be the third iteration of the beloved sitcom – following the original UK version and its successful US adaptation.
Like its predecessors, the series will follow a couple who inherit a historic mansion in the countryside and later discover it’s haunted by ghosts.
According to Deadline, Nowhere Boys star Tamala Shelton and Rowan Witt have been cast as the central couple.
Playing the ghosts haunting their mansion are Mandy McElhinney, who has been cast as Irish potato famine survivor and mother of 13 Eileen, Brent Hill as stoic naval officer Gideon, Ines English as 1900s socialite and bride-to-be Miranda, and Michelle Brasier 1980s aerobics instructor Lindy.

Rounding out the cast are George Zhao as a young Gold Rush-era Chinese miner named Joon, and Jackson Tozer as Satan, a misunderstood 1990s motorbike gang member with a heart of gold.
“Ghosts Australia boasts a stellar cast and an incredibly talented creative team,” said Daniel Monaghan, Paramount Australia’s SVP, Content and Programming.
“We can’t wait to bring this witty and heartfelt show to life, complete with our set of uniquely Australian ghosts.”
The series, which has already begun filming in Western Australia, will debut on Network 10 and Paramount+ later this year.

The original UK version, which starred Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe as couple Alison and Mike Cooper, concluded in December 2023 after five seasons.
Last month, Smith-Bynoe said that a storyline from the American adaptation would be at the top of his list should he ever reprise his role.
“[The] American [version of] Ghosts did an episode where the husband gets possessed by the other ghosts and I’d love to do that,” he told Metro. “That’d be fun. I’d love that if you, [the BBC] are listening.”
Ghosts Australia will debut on Network 10 and Paramount+ later this year.
