One person was killed in a crash on Interstate 234 early Friday, the Overland Park Police Department confirmed. Police said the victim was riding a bicycle on I-435 near Lamar Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. The cyclist was reportedly traveling west when they were struck by a car. The cyclist was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS. He was identified as Michael Nowlin, 27, of Springfield, Missouri. Police said the driver of the car was not injured. The driver is cooperating with police. Kansas law prohibits cyclists from riding on the interstate. Officers are investigating what led up to the collision.
