A man was arrested in Huntington early Thursday morning riding a bicycle while carrying drugs, a gun and a backpack containing explosives, court records show.

Kristopher Osborne, 47, was taken into custody after police noticed him riding a bike along the 800 block of 3rd Street without any apparent lights on the bicycle before attempting to evade authorities, according to a criminal complaint filed with the Cabell County Magistrate Court.

The complaint said the Osborne began peddling faster and attempted to flee before police activated the cruiser’s sirens and lights. The man then led the police on a chase down several blocks before wrecking his bike along the 900 block of West 3rd Street.

When Huntington police approached Osborne, he was bleeding from his head and he admitted to having a gun and methamphetamine on him. Police secured the pistol and searched the man, which they discovered drugs in his pants pocket and paraphernalia in his shirt pocket.

Authorities took the backpack to the Huntington Police Department headquarters where it was searched and inside, police found two items with red and white wire attached with labels on it that spelled “Dangerous”, “Blasting Caps”, and “Explosives,” as well as the label of a chemical company.

Osborne faces charges of possessing explosive materials and possession of a controlled substance.
