The Mavrik is super affordable. This is one of the great value drivers on the market.

With AI Technology to help women golfers get more ball speed and a clubface that feels like a trampoline, this is a club that you can really benefit from long term.

Best Irons For Slow Swing Speeds

Ping GLE 3 Combo Set, womens golf clubsPing GLE 3 Combo Set, womens golf clubs

Ideal for:
The PING G Le3 are our favorite irons for slower swing speeds for senior women golfers. The Ping G Le3 is lightweight with a lower center of gravity. If you have ever hit a Ping golf iron, you know that feel is a major consideration in creating these clubs, and it certainly was in the G Le3.

One of the goals behind these irons was to create more club head speed and ball speed without the player having to increase their effort. The PurFlex cavity badge helps give you that pure Ping sound and feel at impact.

Why Senior Women Love It:
My favorite thing about the Ping G Le3 is the sand wedge. The designers of this set looked at what made the Ping Eye 2 such a success, and they went back to some of that technology. A slightly slimmer hosel and more traditional shape is something that any lady golfer can benefit from.

  • Impressive feel around the greens and when approaching
  • High ball speeds coming off the face
  • Option to purchase as a combo set
  • High density heel and toe weights increase forgiveness
  • Option for L flex and UL (very lightweight ladies) flex, something new from Ping
  • Not a new release, but Ping will hold their value for a long time

Best Wedges For Senior Women Golfers

Tour Edge X525Tour Edge X525

Ideal for:
Mid to high handicap senior ladies searching for extra spin around the green, without giving up forgiveness. The wide soles optimize weight distribution for clubhead stability at impact, helping you get more spin onto your ball on all strikes.

Why Senior Women Love It:
The Houdini Sole propels the X525 wedges smoothly across the turf to prevent digging into the dirt. It leads to cleaner contact between your grooves and the ball, generating more spin and control on short-game shots. It’s not the prettiest wedge, but it plays its part to get you up and down.

  • Houdini sole glides cleanly through sand and rough.
  • CNC-milled grooves preserve spin rate.
  • Highly forgiving for a wedge
  • Affordable
  • The oversized look is not pretty
  • Limited feel for better greenside players

Best Wedge for Spin

Titleist Vokey SM9 WedgeTitleist Vokey SM9 Wedge

Ideal for:
The Titleist Vokey SM9 wedges are the best for senior women that are looking to increase spin in their golf shots. I’ll warn you that many senior women don’t have a lot of clubhead speed, and that is what creates a decrease in spin.

However, if you pair this SM9 with a higher spinning golf ball and you hit down and through the shot, it should stop where you want it to.

Why Senior Women Love It: The SM9 is a tour-proven golf wedge with extreme attention paid to the grooves and distance control.

In addition, the forward center of gravity in the SM9 allows for a more controlled ball flight.

Sometimes high is not always the best, and you need to establish control as well.

There are quite a few grinds available from Vokey, and things can get confusing. For a standard all-around versatile grind, go with the F grind.

  • Precise control and contact
  • High spin rates
  • Controlled ball flight
  • Great feel
  • Not as forgiving as some other wedges
  • Still a little heavy, even with graphite shafts

Best Club Set for High Handicap Senior Ladies

TaylorMade Kalea Premier Ladies Complete Golf Set

TaylorMade Kalea Premier ladies complete golf setTaylorMade Kalea Premier ladies complete golf set

The TaylorMade Kalea line has been around for a while, but the new Kalea Premier is by far the best set that TaylorMade has produced. I loved the attention to detail here and how close these clubs are getting to the premium options from TaylorMade.

If you have a higher handicap or are new to the game but ready to make a commitment, the TaylorMade Kalea Premier is a great choice. Each of the clubheads is designed to be confidence-inducing and improve overall consistency in your game.

I was surprised at how good the feel was with the Kalea Premier set, but TaylorMade used many of the same technologies in these clubs that they do in the Stealth line. You get the V Steel Sole, the Thru Slot Speed Pocket, and Forged Aluminum Ring Construction.

All of this to say, this set is a good value. It’s not often that a complete set leaves me thinking that a woman golfer could use these clubs for years to come, but the TaylorMade Kalea Premier changed my mind.

What’s Included: Driver, 5 fairway, 5 rescue, 6 rescue, 7-PW, SW, putter, golf Bag, and headcovers

  • Lightweight clubs with a great feel
  • Ideal for slower swing speeds looking for more distance and forgiveness
  • Comes with a Spider Mini putter that has a graphite shaft
  • Good golf club set makeup
  • Too lightweight for the higher swing speed players

Buyers Tips to Purchasing the Best Senior Women’s Golf Clubs

Senior lady golfer using her putter on the green. Senior lady golfer using her putter on the green.

Senior women players have a lot to think about when buying golf clubs.

Here are some of my best tips and advice to make sure you end up with the right clubs in your bag. These are the good years when you can spend more time on the course and do it with clubs that are the right fit for you!

Low Center of Gravity

Always look for a low center of gravity to help increase launch and overall forgiveness. The center of gravity position can sometimes be influenced by weights and adjusted in a club like a driver, but in the irons, you will be stuck with what you purchase, so look out for this key term.

Shaft Considerations

Graphite shafts are needed in all clubs, aside from the putter. Look for a lower shaft weight. Some golf companies are now offering two ladies flex shaft options in a club, one for a slightly faster swing speed (heavier weight) and one for a slower swing speed (lower weight).

Shaft flexibility matches your swing speed. The faster your swing, the more stiffness you need in a club. Most senior women do well with ladies flex shafts; for faster swing speeds, a men’s regular or soft regular could work.

Club Head Loft

Don’t be afraid to go with a higher loft on the driver or fairway woods; this will increase forgiveness and improve overall results. Start somewhere around 11.5 degrees and increase the loft from there until you find a match.

Club Set Makeup and Clubhead Design

Think about taking long irons out of the bag and using hybrids instead. Having several hybrids in the bag is a good thing!

Choose golf wedges known for high spin rates; higher spinning wedges allow the ball to stop on the green, and senior ladies can make a putt to save the hole.

I love it when a senior women golfer adds hybrids to their golf club set. An ideal golf club set makeup would look something like this:

  • Driver
  • 5 Wood
  • 4 Hybrid
  • 5 Hybrid
  • 6 Hybrid
  • 7 Iron
  • 8 Iron
  • 9 Iron
  • Pitching Wedge
  • Gap Wedge
  • Sand Wedge
  • Putter

This leaves you with 12 clubs total. If you want to add in a 3 wood, I would say that’s your next best club. In addition, many senior women use a lob wedge to help with bunker shots with a higher lip. d

Putter

With a putter, stability is very important; larger mallet head putters can offer that for senior ladies. Also, consider a putter with an insert to help soften impact and make it easier to control your speed.

Golf Grip Style and Size

Don’t underestimate the importance of having a good-quality golf grip. Many senior women golfers have issues with arthritis in their hands, so a larger golf grip is a good concept.

Frequently Asked Questions

What golf clubs are recommended for senior ladies?

How far should a 60 year old woman hit a golf ball?

A 60-year-old woman can hit a golf ball as far as 200 yards or more if their swing speed allows it. With slower swing speeds, women golfers may see driver distances of about 125 yards faster speeds will get the ball 175 yards or more.

What is the difference between senior and ladies’ golf clubs?

Most of the time, the only difference between senior and ladies’ golf clubs is the shaft length. The shaft flexibility is very similar in the ladies’ and seniors’ clubs.

Final Thoughts

The best senior ladies’ golf clubs focus on launch, forgiveness, and consistency to make your life easier and fun on the course. We selected clubs that give you some swing speed back in your long game while ensuring feel and control around the green.

Hopefully, you now feel a bit more confident in the best senior ladies golf clubs. If you think it’s too much of a project to put a complete golf club set together, think about going with a ladies’ complete set.

However, when you combine the best senior driver with some of the best wedges and irons in the game, you will get a golf club set that performs considerably better than most. Fine-tuning equipment to a player’s needs is always the best choice.
