Four local athletes qualified for nationals as the Nelson Rhythm Ropers hosted the Jump Rope BC provincial championships last weekend.

Nelson’s Emily Musa, Kaylyn Allingham, Laura Tessier and Maddie Woodcock secured berths at the Rope Skipping Canada National Championships, which will be held May 16-19 in Saskatoon.

Teams from Abbotsford, Penticton, Victoria, Mission and Vancouver travelled to Nelson for provincials, which featured events such as single rope endurance, double dutch speed relay, and single rope team freestyle.

Allingham finished second overall in the 19-plus category just ahead of third-place Tessier.

First place-finishers from the Rhythm Ropers included Aliya Devji, Aydin Devji, Bodhi Siminoff, Woodcock, Mia Novotna, Mila Mortimer and Ziyanna Gower.
