Syracuse, N.Y. — The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible hazing incident involving Westhill High School lacrosse players.

The allegation involves players on the boys team, according to Thomas Newton, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office.

Newton declined to provide more details about the investigation. He said no arrests have been made.

The boy’s varsity game against Guilderland High School was canceled on Saturday.

Steve Dunham, the Westhill School District superintendent, did not respond this weekend to inquiries from Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard.

On Monday, Dunham said in an email that “the details of the incident and the potential outcomes of our investigation are things I cannot comment on. I also cannot comment or share specific details about student discipline.”

“Our top priority is always the physical safety, mental health and well-being of our students,” he wrote. “Any behavior that negatively affects any of these aspects for other students will be addressed promptly and appropriately according to our Code of Conduct.”

The Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office referred Syracuse.com to the sheriff’s office for questions.
