For the first time in over 30 years, the South Carolina State Table Tennis Championships are returning to the Palmetto State. This historic, sanctioned event is scheduled to take place Saturday, February 8, at Carolina Pong, located at Saint Andrews Park, 920 Beatty Road.

Organized by Tripp Roche, the president and founder of Carolina Pong Table Tennis Club, and in partnership with the Richland County Recreation Foundation, the championships are expected to attract over 50 players from across South Carolina and the Southeast. Competitors will battle it out for cash prizes, trophies, and the prestigious title of South Carolina State Champion. Carolina Pine will give back 40 percent of all profits to the Richland County recreation foundation to provide scholarships for underprivileged children in the community.

“This is a monumental moment for table tennis in South Carolina,” said Roche. “We’re not just reviving a long-lost tradition—we’re setting the stage for a new era of competitive table tennis in our state. Players, spectators, and enthusiasts alike will see the incredible skill and energy this sport brings.”

The tournament will feature 12 events for all skill levels and age groups, making it an inclusive event for players of all abilities. Spectators are encouraged to attend and experience the fast-paced excitement of table tennis at its highest level.

The return of the South Carolina State Championships signals a resurgence of table tennis in the region, driven by the efforts of Carolina Pong and its community partners.
