NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – A police report is showing what a witness claims they saw right before a car hit and killed a man in North Myrtle Beach.

The Horry County Coroner’s Office said 63-year-old David Robinette was hit on Saturday, Jan. 18, along Highway 17 South, near the 810 Billiards and Bowling, which is between 12th and 11th Avenues South.

The report shows the driver of the car that hit Robinette told North Myrtle Beach police he didn’t see him until he was in front of the car.

Police also spoke with a witness, who claims that they were at the nearby Sugrue’s Pub & Eatery with Robinette, and he was intoxicated.

The witness thought Robinette was only going to the bathroom but saw him leave out the side door.

The witness also said when the car hit Robinette, he was walking in and out of traffic, trying to cross Highway 17.

Robinette, who lived in Little River, died days after the crash on Wednesday, Jan. 22.

The North Myrtle Beach Police Department is investigating the crash.
