A Palm Beach County Schools basketball coach has been arrested for multiple felonies related to the alleged sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO), 25-year-old Javian Dennard Golphin Jr. was taken into custody after an investigation into allegations that he engaged in unlawful sexual communication with a 16-year-old girl.

Golphin, who served as a coach at a local school, is accused of soliciting the minor for sexual acts using social media and text messaging, and of sending explicit images and videos of himself.

Golphin was listed as a boys basketball coach for Lake Shore Middle School according to the Palm Beach Schools’ website, but it has since been removed.

The investigation began after the victim reported receiving nude images and sexually explicit videos from Golphin via Instagram and text messages. According to the affidavit, Golphin was aware of the victim’s age and continued to engage in sexually charged conversations, including sending videos of himself masturbating and requesting sexual favors.

Detectives obtained consent from the victim’s legal guardian to search her phone, which revealed a series of disturbing messages and media exchanges between Golphin and the minor. The communications spanned from early September to late October and included graphic sexual content, discussions of dating, and expressions of romantic interest.

PBSO arrested Golphin on October 21, 2025, and booked him into the Palm Beach County West Detention Center. He is being held on a $30,000 bond.

Golphin was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail for:

  • Soliciting a Child for Unlawful Sexual Conduct Using a Computer/Device
  • Transmission of Material Harmful to a Minor
  • Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device

According to Lake Shore Principal Dr. Carl Gibbons, Golphin was removed from campus on October 7, 2025, after the district received a complaint and launched an internal investigation.

“Mr. Golphin was removed from the school on October 7 and placed under investigation. He will not be returning to our campus,” Gibbons wrote. “The School District holds all employees to the highest standards of conduct and is committed to a safe learning environment for all students.”

A similar letter went out to families at Glades Central, where Principal Melanie Bolden-Morris stated Golphin “is not permitted on our campus” and encouraged anyone with relevant information to contact School Police.

Both principals emphasized that the safety and well-being of students remain their top priority, urging families to report any suspicious activity to a trusted adult or through the FortifyFL app.
