ANNAPOLIS, Md. (DC News Now) — The Annapolis Police Department (APD) is seeking nonprofits to receive unclaimed bicycles.

Police say, in 2025, the Annapolis City Council updated parts of the city code to require unclaimed bicycles in APD’s property section to be donated to nonprofits that give bicycles to residents.

Nonprofits that wish to receive the unclaimed bicycles are asked to contact Sgt. Brian Criss, prove their 501(c)(3) status and explain how they provide bicycles to residents in need.

Organizations that satisfy the requirements will be placed on a roster, and the bicycles will be donated on a first-come, first-served basis.

To be included in the first round of available bicycles, organizations must provide documentation by April 15.
