ARCHER CITY (KFDX/KJTL) — Archer County authorities were called to a scene of an active shooter situation earlier this evening, Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

According to officials, it started just after 4 p.m. at the Archer City Country Club golf course. A witness called authorities for a man in a black ski mask walking around the golf course with a gun, firing shots.

DPS Sgt. Juan Gutierrez said the suspect fired shots at law enforcement, but authorities did not return fire.

Around 6 p.m., Sgt. Gutierrez said the suspect was detained and taken into custody, and the situation has now concluded.

No motive for this incident is known at this time.

In addition to Archer City Police and the Archer County Sheriff’s Office, many other agencies from DPS, Texas Game Wardens, AMR, Seymour police, the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office, and Wichita County SWAT were also on the scene.
