The golf team of my alma mater, West Virginia University, has won its third tournament in six events this fall.
That’s quite the accomplishment for a program that is just now in its tenth year of competition. The WVU golf team was restarted in 2015 after a 32 year hiatus.
I covered WVU’s win at the Island Collegiate last summer. It was a blast following the team and meeting the players (and some of their parents).
The WVU golf team currently is ranked #31.
In the Pearl at Kalauao Invitational, WVU shot a collective 21-under, beating second place UC San Diego by eleven shots.
A team just down the street from GolfBlogger World Headquarters, Eastern Michigan, finished seventh at +8.
Big 12 rival Baylor was in eighth at +9.
Leading all players at the Kalauao Invitational was UC San Diego’s Nathan Tseng.
WVU’s Kaleb Wilson finished -9 for a t3. Nicholas Turowski finished in fifth place at -7.
Wilson is ranked #99 in NCAA Division 1. Turowski is ranked #106.
The next tournament for WVU is the Battle at Briar’s Creek at Johns Island, South Carolina starting February 2, 2026.
