BREEZY POINT — The physical education teachers at Eagle View Elementary School gave the third and fourth grade students the opportunity to raise money for the American Heart Association by participating in Jump Rope for Heart.

The students raised more than $2,450. The top fundraiser was Declan Johnson, followed by Lucas Mesa-Spaniol, Gracelyn Beal and Emmy Hanson.

The students also learned how to do hands-only CPR on mannequins. Nurses Terri Spielman and Karlyn Anderson taught the students this lifesaving procedure.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “Pineandlakes Echo Journal.” Often, the “Pineandlakes Echo Journal” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
