In the opening round match, Daemen (15-12) will play Penn State (14-15), hosted on the campus of Daemen. In the first quarterfinal-round match, Long Beach State (27-3) will play Fort Valley State (16-9). The second quarterfinal-round match, Loyola Chicago (25-3) will play Pepperdine (20-9). Winners of the first two quarterfinal matches will advance to compete in the semifinals. The third quarterfinal-round match, Hawaii (26-5) will play the winner of Daemen/Penn State. The fourth quarterfinal-round match, UCLA (20-6) will play Belmont Abbey (17-8), with those third and fourth quarterfinal match winners advancing to compete in the second semifinal matchup. Winners of those semifinal matches advance to the championship on Monday, May 12, live on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. Eastern time. Game times for the quarterfinal-round matches are scheduled to take place at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Eastern time, May 8. The semifinal-round matches are scheduled for 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Eastern time, May 10. All quarterfinal and semifinal-round matches will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Conferences receiving automatic qualification included the Big West Conference, Conference Carolinas, Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association, Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, Northeast Conference and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The remaining two teams were selected at-large without geographical restrictions.
