As Table Tennis Ireland continues to grow and strengthen its operations across the country, we would like to take this opportunity to share some important staff updates within the organisation.

Farewell and Best Wishes to John McKenna

After seven dedicated years with Table Tennis Ireland, John McKenna will be leaving the organisation to pursue new opportunities. John has played a key role in our journey, contributing significantly to the development and delivery of table tennis programmes, and supporting clubs and players across Ireland.

On behalf of everyone at Table Tennis Ireland, we sincerely thank John for his commitment, hard work, and passion over the years. We wish him every success and happiness in his future endeavours.

Best Wishes to Nicola Clements

We would also like to acknowledge the departure of Nicola Clements, who served as our Participation and Inclusion Officer over the past 12 months. Nicola made a valuable contribution to our inclusion and community development work and has now moved on to an exciting new role with Olympic Handball Ireland.

We extend our warmest thanks to Nicola for her time, dedication, and commitment to Table Tennis Ireland, and wish her every success in her new role.

Welcoming New (and Not-So-New) and Evolving Roles

Looking ahead, we’re delighted to introduce some exciting staff updates that will continue to strengthen our capacity and support for clubs, coaches, and members nationwide:

  • Philip Ryan joined us in June in the role of Membership and Events, helping to enhance member engagement and ensure the smooth delivery of our competitions and national events.

  • Sam Logue stepped into the full-time role of National Para Coach and Para Performance Lead in February. Thanks to support from Paralympics Ireland and Sport Ireland, this role is key to the development of the performance pathway and high-performance para programme.

  • Catherine Finnegan has recently stepped up into the role of Operations Manager, in addition to her current responsibilities in Finance and Administration. She will help oversee the day-to-day running of the organisation and ensure strong governance and efficiency.

  • Patrick Campbell has joined us as our new Participation and Inclusion Officer based in Ulster, beginning his role this week. Patrick will build on the strong foundations in place, working closely with our clubs, schools, and community partners to expand access and engagement across the sport.

Welcome to Our New President

Finally, we are thrilled to welcome Alan Strong as the new President of Table Tennis Ireland. Alan has already met with staff and begun engaging with our wider community to gain a first-hand understanding of the organisation’s priorities and progress.

We look forward to working closely with Alan as he steps into this ambassadorial role — representing the sport, championing our values, and supporting our mission to continue developing table tennis across Ireland.

Thank you to all our volunteers, members, and staff who continue to make Table Tennis Ireland a vibrant, forward-looking organisation. Exciting times lie ahead, together, we’re building a stronger future for our sport.
