FREMONT, CA— A 73-year-old Fremont resident has died a week after crashing. The victim was injured on Feb. 16 at the intersection of Fremont Boulevard and London Common, according to the Fremont Police Department.
When officers arrived shortly after 4 p.m., Fremont Police and Fire personnel provided medical aid before transporting the injured cyclist to a nearby hospital. Despite receiving medical treatment, the bicyclist died as a result of their injuries on Feb. 23.
A preliminary investigation by the Fremont Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit determined that the cyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was traveling southbound in the bike lane of Fremont Boulevard.
Upon reaching the intersection, the cyclist collided with a curb and was ejected, sustaining head and facial injuries. Authorities confirmed that no other vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash.
The Alameda County Coroner’s Office responded to the hospital on Feb. 23 to take custody of the deceased.
This marks Fremont’s first fatal traffic collision of 2025.
