No charges will be filed after a 16-year-old was shot and killed, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.On Friday around 7:45 p.m., officers said they were called to the 4800 block of Berl Street near the intersection of Old Walkertown Road and Carver School Road.When officers arrived, they said they found Jaquavion Lewis, 16, on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene after EMS arrived. After investigating, detectives said evidence indicates Lewis appeared to have attempted to commit a robbery during the sale of a gun when one of the people involved “acted in self-defense.”After consultation with Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O’Neill, no charges will be filed at this time in connection with the homicide.At this time, police are not sharing the names of the other people involved. The investigation remains ongoing.
