HANAHAN, S.C. (WCSC) – The Hanahan Police Department said no charges will be filed in connection with the death of an 18-year-old man on Monday evening.
The Hanahan Police Department responded just after 9 p.m. Monday to the area of the Domino’s Pizza on Bowen Pier Drive, Chief Rick Gebhardt says.
One person was confirmed dead when officers arrived.
Tra’sean White, 18, of Wadmalaw Island, died at the scene of the incident, Berkeley County Coroner Darnell Hartwell said.
It was determined after further review with the Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office that no charges will be filed, as evidence shows the 18-year-old was shot in self-defense while conducting an armed robbery with a second suspect.
Deonte Calden Trevon Lancit, 18, of Charleston, is facing one charge of armed robbery armed with a deadly weapon.
Police detained one person in connection to the deadly shooting on the night of the incident. Gebhardt confirmed that the detained person was not Lancit.
Police arrested Lancit Tuesday night.
He was booked into the Hill-Finklea Detention Center.
