A teenager severely injured last week when the electric bicycle he was riding collided with a vehicle in Warwick Township has died, according to the Warwick School District, where he was a student.

William Fenninger, a Warwick High School 11th grader, died Monday at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Dauphin County, according to the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office. The Dauphin County Coroner’s Office did not respond to requests for more information Tuesday.

Warwick School District spokesperson Carolyn Besjak said the district sent a notice to its families about Fenninger’s death with his parent’s permission. It is offering counseling to students and staff in coordination with the Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13.

“Will’s death will likely impact a significant number of staff and students, and we will continue to support students and staff throughout this difficult time now and during the school year,” the notice read.

Fenninger was injured around 6:40 p.m. Thursday when his e-bike and a vehicle police described only as a Toyota collided in the southbound lane of the 100 block of Church Road, near the entrance to Forney Field. The Toyota’s driver, who police said is a minor, was not injured.

Northern Lancaster County Regional police said Friday that the collision is under investigation and did not say if any charges or traffic violations are pending.

Police did not respond to requests for updates on Tuesday.

An online fundraiser created before Fenninger died to help his family with hospital bills had raised more than $42,000 of its $55,000 goal as of Tuesday.
